VINCE'S INTERVIEW WITH FOX NEWS

Vince is now a TV star. Or so we joke. Hehe! He very recently was interviewed by our local Fox News regarding one of the most talked about topics during cold season, that is the flu vaccine. He didn't say yes right away when they asked him if he's okay to do the interview. He said that he'd talk to me about it first. When I asked him why the hesitation, he told me "he's shy".  *Totosh!  Well, he has done a couple of interviews for our local radio station, and every now and then, he does lectures for a good number of people, so there was no doubt in my mind that he'd do just great on TV.

Anyway, Vince did the interview, and it was aired on TV the day after. When I saw it, I thought, hmmm... he sounded legit, LOL!  Kidding aside, I'm one very proud wifey here. Why wouldn't I be? He looked really handsome on screen -- uyyyy, telegenic ☻ His suit and tie complemented his looks -- ♥kilig! He was very articulate (as always) and spoke with authority and credibility regarding the topic at hand. I have to mention here that he wasn't given the questions pre-interview, so he was basically answering them on the spot (*lunok*). When they were done, the interviewer commended him for being a "natural." Apparently, some of the doctors they have interviewed needed cue cards, whereas Vince breezed through it like a pro ;) Yap, that's my husband right there ☺ 

Okay, enough talk now. I'm starting to steal my husband's thunder. Hehe! This is his moment, and so allow me to share to you a clip of his interview:

*PS: Totosh is our family's very own signature one-word expression and often used when we tease each other or when Vonn Kaleb is being adorably and irresistibly cute! ☺ I wish you could hear how we say it. Totosh!

WIN, LOSE, DRAW OR DIAGNOSE!

Most of us are familiar with the board game, Pictionary, right?  "Quick sketches, crazy guesses."

So, about three or four weeks ago, Vince and his co-residents had a little gathering, and after dinner, we played Pictionary.  We divided ourselves into four teams, and as expected, Vince and I were on the same team.  We had loads of fun, and too bad, we didn't take pictures of the sketches and drawings, but one thing I realized is how interesting (and competitive) this board game becomes when physicians play it.

Word #1:  SNORING

Dr. E picks a card, and as soon as the timer starts, he sketches what obviously is a person sleeping, including the giveaway "zzzzzzzzzzzzz."   It is a pretty easy word (both to draw and guess), so all of us we're expecting that Dr. W, his teammate, would get it.  With a little prompting, Dr. W indeed got the correct answer, but quickly quipped, "I was going to say OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA."

I giggled and snickered, then thought to myself, "Tama nga naman, me punto sya!" *Right, he has got a point there.*

By the way, obstructive sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by loud snoring, restless sleep, and daytime sleepiness.

Word #2:   TEASPOON

The third team was composed of Dr. A, her husband, and their young daughter.  Dr. A.'s husband did a good sketch of a teaspoon, but Dr. A blurted out, "IMPREGNATION."

On figuring out why "impregnation," it took me a long time to see that the teaspoon sketch did look like a sperm cell!

Way to go, Dr. A, for your clinical eye, and analytic thinking! ☻  And yes, Dr. A got the correct word eventually.

Word #3:   GUMSHOE

Though I didn't know what gumshoe is, I didn't find it to be a hard word, because all I needed to do was sketch a gum and a shoe, which Vince got correctly.  The funny part was when I was sketching a shoe, Dr. O said nonchalantly, "That looks like a p3n!s."  And the others piped in, "Hey, we got kids here!" LOL.

I looked up in the dictionary to see what gumshoe means, and it is a slang for a detective, investigator, or sleuth.

Still, I swear, my sketch was ugly but it didn't resemble a male's reproductive organ, or at least to me! ☻

Anyway, in case you were wondering who was crowned Pictionary champs of the night, it was Vince and I.  They got owned by the Valencia couple. LOL. Our winning word was "poodle."  Vince was able to decipher my stick drawing of a dog, but couldn't quite get that it was a poodle, until he overheard one of our opponents whispered, "Yeah, it does look like a poodle."  And that's how we won, hehe!

PAPALENG NG BAYAN

I am Sam is a very touching movie about Sam Dawson, a man who suffers from a developmental disability, and in a fortunate twist of fate, fathers a girl whom he names Lucy (after The Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds). 

When I thought of my father today, I somehow related him to Sam's character in a figurative way. My father has shortcomings which can be translated as disability, but like Sam, he did not allow it to get in the way of expressing his love for his child. In the movie, Lucy was never embarrassed of his father. In fact, when the time came that she had to be moved into a foster family, she kept finding her way back to his father's arms. I aim to be a Lucy myself, that no matter what, I would always be proud of my father - not for his inabilities - but for the love he has always shown us.

Happy Father's Day, Papaleng. Thank you for everything, especially for teaching me how to hold the world in a paper cup ;)

You see, my father is not SUPERMAN. Not even close. That is why we love him to bits ♥
