RUN, KAREN, RUN

So, why exactly am I showcasing my Nike running shoes for today's Wednesday Apparel?


Well, I'm proud to say that after about half-a-year of diet modification and working out in the gym, finally, I reached my weight goal.  Yehey!  Of note, last time I tipped the scale, I weighed 100 pounds - and that was after the holiday carbo loading and sinful indulgence.  Hooray!

Okay, enough rejoicing.  Reaching my desired weight is just the beginning of this battle.  Maintaining it is another story.

Here's a synopsis of my weight loss battle saga:

2008 - 98 pounds
2009 - 120 pounds
2010 - 112 pounds
2011 - 110 pounds
2012 - 100 pounds
2013 - ???

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't jinx my weight management with this post.

    Ang sarap kumain! Nag-gain ako ng isang kilo, grrrrrrrr! pa-share naman ng diet mo, how did you modify it? May kanin pa rin ba?

  2. Thanks, Lainy! Super happy din ako kasi hindi ako makapaniwalang ma-a-achieve ko pa pala ulit yung ganyang timbang. Nakakadagdag confidence kahit pano ^^

    Ang sarap talaga kumain - that's why unang unang tip, hindi mo dapat dinedeprive yung sarili mo ;)

    Ang main key sa diet is portion control. Kinakain ko naman lahat basta in moderation lang lagi.

    It's worth to check the label ika nga, kasi nagkaka-idea ka ilang calories per servings, sugar and salt content, fiber, etc.

    Saka opt for healthier choices, like fruits for snacks, wheat instead of white, white meat instead of red meat, etc.

    About naman sa kanin - oo, nakain pa din ako. Half-cup rice a day na lang pero nag start ako sa one cup rice a day. Yan ang unang una kong ginive up actually, cold turkey, imagine mo yan. Dati kasi talagang nakaka-tatlong mangkok kami ni Vince ng kanin isang kainan, pero nung na find out namin na mataas pala ang "points" nyang rice sa weight, yan ang naging starting point ko. In a week, nag lose ako ng 3 pounds just by cutting back on the rice ;) Veggies ang naging filler namin instead of rice. Tapos eventually hindi na din kami nag-d-dressing sa salad, as in raw na gulay na kinakain namin para na kaming mga hamsters. Haha! Basta maka half-cup rice a day ako, solved na ako dun. Recently, napansin din namin na talagang ang bilis na namin umubos ng salad. Dati tumatagal pa ng more than one week yung isang bag sa'min ngayon in a week ubos na namin.

    Madami pa ibang tips like when dining out, share a dessert instead of eating an order by yourself. Use sour cream instead of mayo. Cooking spray rather than cooking oil. Eat breakfast (na hanggang ngayon di ko pa din consistently ginagawa). Lahat ng tips na 'to effective and natutunan ko mostly from Weight Watchers ;)

  3. YAY! Galing naman! Thanks for the tips, Karen. Iisang cup lang din ako ng rice till now.

    Hmmm. Masubukan nga ang 1/2 cup lang kasi mukhang di effective sakin ung 1 cup. Mas better siguro pag no rice na talaga, LOL!

    uy! Ganon pala un! Sige simula bukas, 1/2 of everything nalang ako, hahahaha! Pero minsan di mapigilan eh. Ang sarap talagang kumain. Pero siguro pag kasama ko na si Scott mag-dadalawang isip nakong kumain. Health freak un eh at body conscious lalo na sa tummy nya, LOL!

    I'll try more with the vegies. Kulang ako dyan. Ung fruits lang ang sagana.

    Share mo pa ung iba mong tips next time ha. Gusto kong magbawas ng 4 kilos more kasi un dapat ung ideal weight ko ;-)

  7. Aba, usapan pala ito ng mga weight watchers. I admire your discipline to monitor your weight KM. So, yung weight mo around 45 to 46 kgs. lang? Hahaha....ako 55 kgs. That means I'm 10 kilos heavier than you. Hahaha. Surprisingly, that is my ideal weight coz I stand 5'5". sa lbs my ideal weight should be around 120 to 125 lbs. Depende daw kasi yun sa height mo. Dapat proportion. sa diet, I don't have a strict diet, but like u, I'm also into fruits and salads. But because mabilis ang metabolism ko, di ako ganun ka conscious sa diet ko. I eat everything din.

  8. @ Krizza, Usapang weight watchers nga ito. Lol. Buti ka at talagang mabilis ang metabolism mo :) At tama ka din, depende sa height ang normal weight or yung tinatawag na BMI or body mass index. I'm only 5'1" tapos petite pa yung frame ko, kaya yan lang din yung proportion na weight para sa'kin. I don't intend to lose more weight, kasi ma-u-underweight na ako, pero hoping ako na mag-tone pa, magbawas ng fat, at magdevelop ng muscle mass kahit konti - lalo na sa midsection. Hehe!

  9. hanep ha nakuh pag nagkataon na maging masipag ako sa pagdidiet masisira career ko kasi makapag-asawa ako na nyan hahaha but still i wanted to lose weight to live healthy yon lang naman ang reason ko nothing else.

  13. Congrats! Keep up the good work. Sa kanin din ako nagstart. Kung dati nakakadalawang pinggan sa kanin tuwing kainan ngayon isa na lang. Tapos hinahati hati ko yung pagkain ko. Yung 3 BIG meals hinati ko siya sa 7- breakfast,brunch,lunch,merienda1,merienda2 and dinner - after a year nasanay na ang tiyan ko na mabusog kahit kaunti lang ang kinain.

    I suggest try mo namang sumali sa mga fun run para di maiba naman. Or mag jogging na may mga kasama.

  15. congrats!ako dati 135 lbs lang nung college..pero ngayon na nagwowork na 160 lbs na...hahah although nacheck ko na nasa ideal weight pa din ako kasi 5'8" ang height ko...buti nga ngayon namemaintain ko na yung 160 lbs.. pero balak ko pababain timbang ko sa 150 lbs by doing situps and pushups everyday...tapos running naman every weekend... by the way.. nice shoes ah...sana makabili din ako ng nike running shoes...hehe :)

  18. wow uve reached 120lbs. i bet it sucks! i never made it that far but i am struggling to lose 10 lbs that i gained after i gave birth with my youngest, and that was 2years ago!! lol. until now im struggling. hahaha. 2 lbs nalang, pero di pa talaga ma tanggal tanggal. sarap kc kumain ano?

  28. Wow, what a success KM, sarap siguro magalaga ni hubs mo kaya naggain ka ng weight, either that eh masarap ka magluto and wala kang stress hehehe. After I ghave birth, my weight stayed at 98... 90 lbs ako dati nung single ako... Parents in school call me Mrs. Little wahhhh
